Hi everyone,

has anyone tried using Dundas Charts to visualize PI Data? Or do you know other visualization tool that works well with PI?

thanks.

Hi Jayson,

Yes, I have used version 6 of Dundas to visualise data (KPI dashboard) but essentially any graphical chart package will do. I hooked the charts up to PI-OLEDB to retrieve data and displayed via Dundas. I have also used ZedGraph, which is Open Source and a lot cheaper (free) than Dundas!

There are a couple of whitepapers from OSI on using OLAP with a PI system, worth a read if you are considering going down this route of presentation. Are you researching for a project or after some practical examples with Dundas/OLEDB? Of course nothing stopping you using PISDK and dynamically building your own DataTables/DataSets but OLEDB is much neater approach, especially for a web based presentation layer (e.g. RtWebParts).

Cheers,

Rhys.

Hi,

I am new to PI system and installed PI OLEDB provider 3.3 and unable to connect PI server through dundas chart for sharepoint. Can you please provide the steps to connect to PI Server using dundas chart for sharepoint.

Thanks,
