If the Server Name is changed and you open a Data Set, it deletes all of the references to TagNames and only leaves the constants? Is there any way to fix this?

Our IS department in their great wisdom changed our server name and now if I open a ProcessBook created and working fine with the original server name now hangs for a long time. Finally it opens and naturally it can't find the tags as the original server is no longer online.

It's not too big of a problem with just tags as you can simply search the new server for the old tagname and replace the tag. Simply changing the Server Name in the combobox doesn't do anything.

When you have Data Sets, the calculation formula gets trashed as ProcessBook deletes any tags it can't find and all you are left with is the constants and operators.

Many of my Data Sets were created in ProcessBook and I don't have an external copy. Now I have to recreate every Data Set and that is a pain!

First, try adding a PISDK server alias to your PISDK connections that matches your "old" PI server name that points to your new PI server.
If you can open your displays OK without error then you can run a script (I have one) that will dump your datasets out to Excel so you can rebuild them should you need to.

Did they just rename the PI system or migrate to a new machine? Either way give them a kick for not providing adequate testing before making the change.

Problem solved: The "PI ProcessBook Support Tool" program allows you to search and replace tags or server names in existing process books. Problem solved!
