I thought I might have found an answer to my annoyance on the OSI Webinar site but alas, no!

I refer to DataLinks 'habit' of converting all cell references to absolute types regarless of how you enter them in formula wizards (they are not yet that ingrained in my mind!) - enter A1 and it immedaitely changes to $A$1. Edit it and it goes back to absolute.

For me this particular problem as I tend to make references to lots of tags on my sheets so I must build the formula and then edit out the dollars before copyin the formula. I could do all this within the wizard once and that would be more efficient.

Does anyone know a way around this. Is there a Setting right under my nose that I cannot see? Is it configuration?

Regards,

Miles

make your formulla with the wizard for example in cell A1

close the wizzard .

copy the formulla in cell a1 from your formule balk and past it in the desired cell .

Now you can delete the $ signs that make the cell absolute .

sorry for my english Whistle

good luck

Erwin, you have no need to apologise about your English. I have just reread my opening post and my own English is shocking - and it's MY first language!Smile

My gripe with the wizard is that it always uses Absolute References and one cannot seem to stop it. I don't want to always have to remove the $'s before copying the formula - it's very time wasting. When I type A1 into the wizard i want it to stay as A1 and not be converted to $A$1.

Other Excel formula wizards do not force absolute references and I (one amongst many) would like OSI PI not to either.Mellow
