Hi

Can anybody tell me how to make a symbol for a valve on my pi display. After I make the symbol, I would like it to change from red to green based upon the value of a digital pi tag.

For example, when the pi tag changes from 0 to 1, I would like to change the valve symbol from green to red. Likewise, when the pi tag changes from 1 to 0, I would like to change the valve symbol from red to green.

I realize this is basic, but I have been trying to look through the help for hours.

Any help would be appreciated.

regards

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum. Smile

You want to look at MultiStating symbols, but for now here is a quick guide to doing what you need.

1. Draw the valve symbol on your display.
2. Select the symbol in build mode, click the "Edit" menu item followed by "MultiState".
3. Select the PI server, then enter the PI tag for your digital state. (Click OK)
4. Repeat step 2.
5. Now for each of your digital states you can set the colour you want.

Now as the data for that digital PI tag is updated in PI, ProcessBook will react to the change in data and parse the MutilState settings for the symbol and change the state.

Hope this helps.
