I have not had any formal training in OSI PI products. I have landed in a project that uses PI and I am in the middle of trying to understand the information flow between my application, AF, and PI and the role that AF SDK and PI SDK play.

1. Can someone please help me understand what is the difference between AF SDK and PI SDK?
2. Is AF SDK internally capable of invoking PI SDK methods to contact PI SDK? Or is AF SDK only capable of getting you attributes and tag information. And then to get the current values from PI, you need to invoke PI SDK methods explicitly?
3. If AF SDK can internally invoke PI SDK methods, then which method in AF SDK can help me pull the current value of a given attribute from PI?

I am not sure if the use of my terminologies is correct. Thanks for any help that y'all can offer.
